State of the Game: February

As January turns to February, it seems as though the snows are coming to an end. Temperatures are still such that what now has fallen remains upon the ground, but nothing new seems to be falling from the sky, and the skies are clear and crisp. Yes that means no more memory crystals will be found among snowdrifts or unceremoniously falling upon the unsuspecting's heads.

What that means for the citizenry is what seems to be a collective movement toward spring. In many places in the market, there are deep discounts on nonperishable goods, citizens are cleaning out their attics (and hiring strong outsiders to help when they need it), and in general, there is just an air of freshness about the place.

The Month of Cherishment

Throughout the month, you may notice shops throughout the city of Aterat have started stocking up on gift products as well. There are small and adorably decorated pastries at the bakery, individually wrapped but kept in pairs; paired rings and necklaces seem to be popular at many jewelers stands, and there are even matching coin purses. It seems if you can dream it up, it comes in a pair. Citizens are abuzz about the month of "Cherishment". They say it encourages others to share with their friends and loved ones how much they mean to them, and is primarily a gift-giving holiday.

Of particular note, citizens point newcomers toward the chocolatier in the Noble district. They speak of it as though it's always been there, but everyone knows until recently, the Noble district has been mostly in ruin...don't they?

This chocolatier sells all sorts of beautiful chocolates, but they specialize in "The Cherished Collection". These boxes, gold-toned and wrapped in shimmering pink ribbons, contains chocolates laced with various potions that result in different, if temporary, effects on the consumers:

- Consumers can only speak the truth for 30 minutes
- It lowers the inhibitions of the consumer (with various effects)
- It inspires in the consumer a deep need to spend time with someone they care for

Cherishment Chocolate Plotting

I need to plot this specifically for Enis who is my most difficult muse but I also have Angel/Inesa & Jacob if anyone wants either of them.

Angel is the sort to buy chocolates for strangers and just make everyone happy. So if you need an enabler, she can absolutely help. She'll also be stretching her wings and flying around the city with flowers and flower crowns to hand out people because she used to make flower crowns in the sphere.

Jacob will make anything you want out of wood for gifts, including intricately carved rings if you don't want metal ones. He'll also be around to wish everyone a happy day. It isn't really something he celebrates but he's friendly enough.

Now the reason for this plotting post... ENIS

She is a grump who needs some more CR. For anyone and everyone interested please let me know here so that we can plan stuff. Enis is still new and a bit harder to get CR with because she's such a grump. I'd love to get her to eat a chocolate though!!! It'd be great for her to tell the truth for 30 minutes or lower her inhabitations and relax for once in her life.

They can always meet at a bar since that seems' Dean's MO but they can also run into each other in the streets. Also he's going to as Jacob for help making a gift for Gar but I don't know what to ask for. Like, rings is SO NOT going to work for him. I don't know what romantic wooden pair gifts might be.



Oh, as other thoughts I intend to try and progress with, Lauri-Ell should meet Angel and accept flowers and not develop a crush at all, and I'll @ you on plurk where I also have Yuki's player so I can ask you two about a thing Nida would do.

And this can also be after she eats it and tells him truths like 'I want to be your friend' lol. Cuz she would force it back on him.

So I've got the four people and there are THOUGHTS TO BE HAD. These are just general, and if you have ideas throw them at me. I'm definitely looking to get some fun stuff in this month. Let's go start with the characters that will get the most into this. Each will be a reply under this. See you again in a moment!

Lauri-Ell

Listen, Lauri's never experienced a holiday built around love. She's going to be SO ENAMORED with this, and with the idea that humans can just, you know, DO THIS. If you're one of her CR, you will be receiving a heart shaped key chain. Because it's appropriate.

In addition to that:

Lauri-Ell is going to be giving additional gifts to EVERY LADY IN THE GAME. Listen, she just thinks that ladies deserve built up and supported and it doesn't happen enough. One day someone, maybe even Lauri-Ell, will realize that she's a lesbian, and things will make more sense to her. So all the ladies in the game, whether Lauri has good CR with them or not, she'll be acquiring beautiful handmade candles. And because Lauri-ell likes flowers, they'll be getting there ones, a set of four, themed to the seasons, that look and smell great. I am happy to either thread out giving these out, or I can just 'dump' them in character inboxes if they exist just so you remember a character was given them.


Beyond this, Lauri-Ell doesn't really have a concept of chocolate so she won't be giving these. But she will often carry around small sweets so threading with her will likely have her fetching some holiday pastry out of her bag to hand to someone.

Other than this, I need ideas. Who wants to talk to Lauri and teach her about the concepts of human love? She's only ever seen a dating show and one romance movie, and other than that, doesn't really know what she's doing or what it all means.

Rhy LOVES love, like, seriously, he has been enamored with these things before. He'll be acquiring chocolates for his husband, not knowing of the side effects what do you think about truth ones, Whimsy?. But in general, other than buying himself and his husband watches, he's actually going to be doing something productive.

Once Rhy learns there is the holiday thing, he's actually going to make crafts to sell. He'll be setting up a booth associated with the clothing store, selling some specialized holiday crafts. Physical flowers last only so long, and some people are allergic. So would you like to buy Custom Flower Bouquets based on your own selection of fabrics? OR perhaps Stuffed Hearts? He'll have a post selling these things. And of course trying to get people to commission work of custom clothing.

Any one else have an idea they might want Rhy for?

Rhy could def buy Llewellyn chocolate, though he often tells the truth (He's choosy about when/what he lies) so unless you have a specific topic of truthing in mind for him that Llewellyn might avoid talking about?

Also I was def thinking he has a present for Rhy, I had a pic and everything I just don't have it uploaded at the moment. There was something I was going to have him give Rhy for New Years as a follow up for their engagement the prior one but then I had my accident and couldn't set stuff up in time.

Edit: Did not see your note about watches on plurk till now because my brain is being silly, but pocket watches that match would also be v cute. ;w;

Yeah, this guy. He's... not the best at engaging in this specific sort of emotional vibe. Like, he's absolutely in love with his husband, and he's amused in flitting around the edges encouraging with Yuki and Jacob, but I don't have any ideas.

Anyone want Nida for something? To either ask a cheerleader or to help pick out gifts or just anything really.

Plot with Llewellyn Watts-Maresh

So Watts hasn’t ever really celebrated Valentines day before for obvious reasons, not like… officially, anyway. He never had a reason to in his world, and in the last world, I believe he got a little distracted around this time last year. SO! This will be his first official one that he's participating in willingly (there was an auction at the sphere that he was technically around for, but it wasn't by choice). He's going to kind of embrace/enjoy this. While he’s going to spend a lot of time with his husband for obvious reasons, I believe he’s going to go and seek out his friends as well.

This is gonna be a return of the floriography thing for Llewellyn again (because I love it and I don’t get to utilize it enough with him), back at the sphere he gave his lady friends ‘Friendship Bouquets’ (they were just because gifts, no holiday attachments intended) and he will likely want to again here! If someone from the sphere was around for that I figure we can hand-wave it, for anyone who hasn’t received one from him before he can do a thread for it if desired. He will be less likely to offer one to the guys (unless you think they would have given him the impression they would like one) because he will probably expect they wont want that. But he will still wish them well or offer assistance with something if he sees someone around. And, Rhy is getting roses with his present because Llewellyn has learned.

He’ll probably be helping out with making arrangements based on Victorian floriography (My reference guide is this book btw, it's small but beautiful) by request as well. People wanting them for different meanings such as courtship, friendship, thanks, the odd apology like he helped Harry with last spring >>… Even if there's something that doesn't have an official arrangement, make me think!

We can definitely do chocolate stuff, but like... Llewellyn is an excessively honest person to begin with, unless there is something very specific he needs to lie about, especially in a world where he has a lot less to hide. So those chocolates in particular won’t do much for him. If you want your character to be extremely honest with him though? Let's do it!

I am very willing to write personalized starters, or tag out to peoples open ones. Just let me know your preference. I will be doing most of my new stuff on Thursdays/Fridays due to my work schedule!
