January State of the Game | In-Game Event: Crystalline Rain

Temperatures around Aterat and its surroundings remain very low, affording the snows the fell in late December to stick around. While it makes for slushy sidewalks and much shoveling for those who run businesses, it leaves the place charming, and there is certainly no shortage of warm drinks to go around to stave off the chill.

While various investigations into the recent happenings continue apace, things seem to be rather uneventful (at least in a threatening manner) throughout the city and the citizens are in high spirits. The downtime might even be a great time, if you've been feeling the itch of enterprise, to get your own business going!

Remember, if you guys think of a place that could be a fun addition to the city, you can submit it on the Content Submission page! It doesn't have to be a place for your character's homeworld. It could be something that came up in OOC conversation or whatever sparks inspiration!

Event; Crystalline Rain: Jan 9 - 15

Throughout the end of December and the beginning of January, snow flurries are common, though the snowfall is never particularly heavy. That will change the evening of the 8th, with heavy snowfall overnight, bringing several inches of fresh snow to blanket the city and the surrounding areas.

Beginning on the 9th, though, a different sort of rain begins to fall. Periodically over the course of the week, brief rains of small crystals of various sizes will fall from the sky. These crystals are no larger than a small coin and shouldn't damage property when they fall, but they do come in a variety of colors and seem to glow with an inner light.

Anyone who picks one up will be treated to a glimpse at the memory contained within. That's right, these crystals house the memories of the other residents of Aterat. They could be as brief as the knowledge of a name, or as involved as a full memory of an event. The memories themselves are as varied as the crystals that fall, and the memories within could be happy or sad, frustrating or elating, but they will involve the emotions of the person they are from. They could also include the information of who it belongs to, but they may also be ambiguous.

You're able to discover as many crystals as you'd like, also, seeing as this strange rain of crystals is lasting a week and there are quite a few memories to go around!

It should also be noted this event is completely voluntary and you need not submit any of your characters' memories if you choose not to. You also can include the stipulation that whoever finds a crystal containing their memories will have no way of knowing from whom it originated. The sky really is the limit!

I thought I'd write up a few memories people can find of my girls!

Aerith

I. A memory of little Aerith being told she was an Ancient by Tseng.

II. Hojo being a psycho. Despite how strong she appears, the intense fear and anger she feels is very overwhelming and she breaks down the second he's gone.

III. Variousshort memories of the most awkward attempts to give high fives you will ever see.

Illyana

I.A memory of a young Illyana being tempted by the dark teachings of a creeper.

II. A memory of her return to Xavier's and the less than gracious welcome the other kids had for her. This memory comes with conflicted feelings, despite her words there's definitely shame and a desire to flee that comes with coming back to Xavier's to see her friends. But there's a desperate urgency there too, a desire to make sure the future she just came from doesn't happen.

III. A memory of war in Limbo

IV. And a very brief memory of taking Pixie's soul. This memory comes with the added bonus of feeling emotionally empty, as if there was a black pit where you should feel emotions and yet nothing at all is there.

Ivy
Most of Ivy's memories are pretty bad, but if you'd like to do anything with her feel free to let me know and we can talk about things! One can be found and that's just:

I. A man that looks like an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh in modern clothes with Ivy, biting into her neck and then in turn letting her bite into his. It's a very brief memory with a lot of very strong conflicting emotions between ecstasy like pleasure and shame.

I'd like to get back into doing things more consistently so if anyone wants to do anything feel free to poke me!

I am late but existing!

I would love to have Jacob find either one of Illyana's or Aeirth's memory crystals. In either case he'll return them and apologize for seeing. We can thread it or not, I'll be making closed threads as I catch up a bit. Either of them are also welcome to find any of Jacob's crystals.

I think for Illyana memory IV might be interesting? Since they've talked a lot about different things that relate to that.

For Aerith we can do the high fives because I think that's really funny but we can also do the first one talking about her being an Ancient since Jacob can tell her about his sister and her special blood that skipped him.

I am in a state of being late perpetually lately so no problem!

I'd love for that! In return they could find one of his if you'd like? I'd be down for either (or both) and we could thread it out if you'd like. I don't mind going slow, it's how I exist anymore haha

I'd be good with either or for Aerith. One is more funny but the other would offer more options for talking. So up to you?

Yeah definitely. I have a post up for Jacob that's sorta just him around attempting to collect crystals but not touch them lol. If you wanna tag that. I'm also cool with slow always.

I like the highfive one for Aerith because I feel like their conversations so far have been rather silly. From bad cookies to tripping to now awkward high fives lol.

I can throw a tag for both of them up in a few days if you're still cool with it?
