Welcome to Aterat!

Here is our first ever Test Drive Meme! There are a lot of areas of the city to explore, so please have a look around! In case you need a little help getting started, I've included a few prompts below, or feel free to start your own! Exploration and player initiative are the names of the game here!

NOTE: While you do need an invite to apply to the game, you do NOT need one to tag or top level on the Test Drive!

A. Welcome to the Jungle

The URBAN jungle, that is. You have just arrived and received a strange satchel from a tiny, strange little man and are left more or less to your own devices (more information on what to expect upon arrival can be found here)! Follow directions to the north and check out the housing, or maybe have a look around the Historium, see what you can waste your meager starter coin on in the Market District, or maybe just meet the neighbors.


B. We've Got Fun and Games

At least there's entertainment. In various parts of the city, there are street performers, slight of hand tricksters, and probably a game or two of poker in one tavern or another (there are several to be found, after all). Start up a game of darts, or just sit broodily in a corner and watch the others coming and going.


C. You can have anything you want but you better not take it for free

The Harbor District is a rough joint. There are pickpockets, swindlers, but also hardworking folk and more than a few buildings that seem to be locked. It sure would be a shame if someone were to go about performing some casual Breaking & Entering...you know, as long as you don't get caught. There are guards around, though not nearly as many here as in the other districts. It's almost as though they like to avoid the place. People talk about wererats in the shadows at night and it's not unheard of for the unaware to go missing when they're traveling around here after dark...


D. What's that smell?

As if being carted off to what looks like a city out of a video game weren't bad enough, there's an entire district to the northeast that seems to be walled off, warded, and in all ways inaccessible. According to the sign, it's the cemetery...and boy does it smell.


E. Speaking Crystal

You could always take a look at the instructions that came with your crystal and see who else is listening. Remember, though, these devices are Voice Only and cannot be filtered. If you speak, anyone with a crystal can and will hear you. Now, whether or not they choose to respond is another thing entirely.

Blue eyes looked at the woman who seemed like she'd been about to follow someone..or something. And he was about to say something when he noticed the look on her face. What was that look for?

At her concern the king repeated the word back. "Fiends?" The king asked this while trying to recall if he'd ever heard that term. Nothing came to mind but then he did recall a kid once call the monsters that back home.

"Fiends..daemons you mean?" Well maybe things were different here in this place or maybe they were just called different things. So there was a tentative smile. "I'll be alright. But maybe getting out of here is a good idea."

"The spirits of the dead turn into monsters as fear, confusion and envy fill them. If this place is in the city then it might be that these spirits won't become monsters but I don't know. I can't just do nothing." It wasn't in her to do nothing when people might be in danger.

Yuna stepped away and looked back at the city. The cemetery was in the city but at its edge.

There was so much that they didn't know but they had to find answers somewhere, why not here. "Maybe we should go but I think we should find a way inside." The cemetery might have more answers...

The king nodded, as he'd heard from Talcott a similar tale about how daemons came into existence and he shook his dark head. Similar creatures or origins were afoot so at least he knew something of what he was up against. A small smile crept in his voice as he looked at the lady.

"Alright, so..what's the plan? Go creep into tombs?" That wasn't beyond him of course because he'd done it more than a few times, but those were his ancestors. This was something completely different.

He understood having to do something, that had been his whole existence since leaving Insomnia. And then when he went back, his story remained the same. So the king could understand. He wasn't afraid for himself because he was already dead, but he worried for the living woman in front of him.

"Well, we can't get in. So I think we should look around and see if there is a way beyond the invisible wall keeping us out." She looked back at Noctis and frowned. Yuna had seen places like this before and while it was never a 'fun' adventure, it was usually one that someone had to take.

"Let's split up. We'll meet back in the city in a little bit and see what we find."

It would probably be easier that way.

There was a slight laugh. "So..go gather more intel..right." That sounded like one of Ignis' many plans but it was nice to hear something similar after having woken up and not being where he thought he would end up. Life flowing through his veins again was something he was sure he wasn't going to have to face ever again, yet here he was doing that very thing.

But the splitting up thing had him confused. "I'm not sure that's a good idea.." She might have a valid reason for suggesting this, but at the same time he honestly figured he'd have an easier time dealing with shades or dead people than she might.

"Are you sure about that?"
