Welcome to Aterat!

Here is our second Test Drive Meme! There are a lot of areas of the city to explore, so please have a look around! In case you need a little help getting started, I've included a few prompts below, or feel free to start your own! Exploration and player initiative are the names of the game here!

A. Free-Fallin'

Not exactly, but close enough. You have just arrived and received a strange satchel from a tiny, strange little man and are left more or less to your own devices (more information on what to expect upon arrival can be found here)! Follow directions to the north and check out the housing, or maybe have a look around the Historium and try to get some information from that giant glowing ball, see what you can waste your meager starter coin on in the Market District, or maybe just meet the neighbors.

B. For the Benefit of Mr. Kite there will be a show tonight on trampolines

Just to the north of the market district, a small carnival has been set up in a square. As the sun sets, the stalls around it come alive with callers, carnival games, roasted meats are available as well as sweet treats. The games have prizes, stuffed animals and the like, and there are musicians. It's almost as though it's all in celebration of something, but what is anyone's guess. You're welcome to attend and see what's what, and any performers among the gathered are welcome to take part. The whole affair is very mirthful and fluid.

C. Delve Down into the Dark and Deep

If you're a more adventurous type, why not see what all the fuss is about in the sewers, or, if heroics are more your style, maybe look into why people seem to think it's fine to have monsters living just under their feet. Or just use the opportunity to keep your skills sharp. The sewers are pretty vast, after all.

D. Tell Phone™

Free-Fallin';

[How many times was he going to be "saved" from death? How many times was his will going to be manipulated? Bring this world back? Why in the hell would be be interested in that? He's had enough. The others were more willing to go along with it, but he's not all that pleased to be here. In fact, he's being quite stubborn about all of this.]

Look, it's a shame that this place is not in the best shape, but to be quite frank... I really don't care. Send me back.

[He'd rather take death over having anybody else control how he lives his life. Someone may... want to help the poor fellow who just wants to help.]

A Show tonight;

[Akechi still isn't taking any of this in stride quite like the others, but by the time of the carnival, he's calmed down considerably from before.

He's just been idly walking around the carnival, quietly observing to himself what there was to offer here. If he was going to be stuck her for an indeterminate amount of time, he'd rather know what he's dealing with sooner than later.

He won't make much effort to check out many of the games, but from time to time you can find him checking out the different food stalls. With the crowd, it's inevitable that he'll eventually bump into somebody.]

My apologies.

[Said out of habit, but deep down he really doesn't care. Appearances probably mean nothing here; Not like they did back home. Even so, he still found himself reverting back to the facade he's most familiar with. Once he's said his "apology", he'll continue onward.

Feel free to stop him and give a piece of your mind.]

Delve Down;

[Akechi found himself wandering around, investigating the new surroundings. He couldn't say that he was particularly interested in this place, but he'd rather be prepared for whatever may come than shield himself from it. That's what led him to the sewers eventually, not particularly worried for his safety.

If you happen to also be there, you might even notice an interesting looking figure sticking close behind him and something that looks like magic from time to time.]

Tell Phone™;

[He couldn't help but consider this "Tell Phone" a downgrade from what he had already. He'd already checked his smartphone and the Metanav (which shouldn't even be there), but neither seemed to work. The functions are simple enough, so it doesn't take him long to get out a message later on in the day.]

So tell me. Just how many people here are willing to accept the information that's been spoon fed to them here upon arrival?

[He nearly said bullshit, but some part of him is still watching what he says in the public eye.]

I find it hard to believe that there are people here who are okay with this situation. Either way, it seems like we're stuck here for a while. If anybody has any information about this place, I'd appreciate it; no matter how little it may seem.

[Thomas can certainly commiserate. He doesn't have any interested at all in helping this place rebuild, but in the brief time he's been here, he's always become painfully aware that what he has to say on the matter isn't exactly weighed heavily.

Really, his heart went out to the guy as he passed by, stopping when he heard his words. He almost kept walking, except, well, Thomas likes to help, too, even if he doesn't.]

You know, I don't think that's worked for any of us yet.

[This is the last thing he needed. First Shido, and the Maruki, and now this? Damn. Let a guy die in peace... or as peaceful as he can all things considered. And yet when he hears someone call out in response, he's not exactly surprised. It would be too easy if they would simply send him back.]

So what? We just grin and bear it?

[He already knows the answer, but it doesn't mean he likes it.]

[Thomas has no other answer, unfortunately, but he recognizes the tone well enough. When he'd left home, he'd felt pretty fed up, himself. So much so that he ends up voicing the other man's thoughts inadvertently.]

No one said you had to like it. [He shrugs.] I guess there's the other option of kicking and screaming, but in the end, you'll just end up tired, hoarse, and no closer to home.

[He smiles, then, slightly rueful, and offers a hand.] Thomas.

[Thankfully, Akechi knows better than to kick and scream. There's no point in wasting his breath nor time if there's no known chance to leave. There was always the option to figure out a way out himself later. Letting out a disgruntled sigh, he reached out with his gloved hand to return the hand shake.]

Goro Akechi. So what do you propose? Are there any leads to follow? [He's... definitely not giving up.]

[The guy wears gloves. Thomas doesn't know if this means the guy is that fastidious or that maybe he's a germaphobe...or maybe it's something completely different. In this place, it's hard to tell. Still, the handshake Akechi receives is firm, warm but not overly so, strong but not overbearing. Thomas isn't looking to prove anything with that handshake. It just is.]

Leads, huh? [He shakes his head, but also shrugs.] I know there's a magic ball in the library that answers questions, but they're annoying. Other than that? I don't know. You could start with the guard captain, I guess. There's a girl who runs a...an agency, but I'm not really sure what they do. Her name's Yuna.

[There's a few reasons really, but at least one of them would incriminate him. Taking a few mental notes of the suggestions he offered...]

Any leads are better than nothing at the moment. [Maybe it was just habit at this point to play detective?] If you don't mind me asking, is it because you're content with this place, or you haven't looked into the matter personally?

[It's not his intent to come off as rude as much as blunt, but it sure does sound that way.]

Are those the only two options? [Thomas, however, might be intentionally difficult.]

The way I see it, there's at least a third.
