The humidity of the last two months begins giving way to a crisp, coolness that suggests autumn is creeping up on Aterat. The idea is reinforced by the colors beginning to blaze through some of the trees, and if one gazes southward, the trees of the great southern forest are turning to fire in the evening sunsets, which are coming earlier and earlier as the month marches on.
In fact, the weather is so cool and crisp and the air so dry that the grass, at once time still trying to cling to the idea of living a few more weeks, is browning, softly crunching under your feet. It really hasn't seemed to have rained in weeks. Maybe that's why it's so dry.
The answer will come soon enough, and not in the form many who've been a guest of the City of Aterat for some time would assume. We'll get to all that in a moment. First, a bit of OOC information:
» A fresh Test Drive is up, so invite your friends!
» Don't forget to get your activity check in!
» I did a lot of reorganization and updating of the settings and business pages, so if you see any issues, please let me know!
When the Academy of revealed, it brought someone with it, a small custodian who has since been missing. Well, the little tonberry wasn't missing exactly, but misplaced.
At least that's what appearances suggested, but in reality, she's been on something of a hunt, and now she's returned with information. She'll be making a network post Friday to clarify, and she will be responding, though everyone is free, of course, to chat among yourselves about what information she's brought.
She's done something, you see, but her powers are strange to her, in her new form, and something may have gone a bit awry. She was trying to follow the trail left by the shard of the Voidcryst and got a bit off track. When she saw the world of darkness she'd found as she surfed the Astral plane she fled, but it seems not before things living there caught her scent.
It starts innocuously enough. People these creatures have decided to feed upon simply...cannot tell a lie. Remember though, lies of omission are still lies! This isn't that they can't answer a question dishonestly, but that they have a very difficult time not answering at all. They have little to no verbal filter, saying the first, most honest though that enters their mind on a topic.
While not evident, someone should track the culprits and seem them destroyed. They are creatures, roughly the size of a medium human male, though reptilian, and while they are capable of camuflag nearing invisibility, they can be tracked if one knows how, but why are they stalking people and why can't people lie around them? That will require investigation.
If they're tracked down and destroyed, everything should return to normal, but if you have any questions, ask here.
Aterat is notorious for change. Things appear, things expand, and the addition of the Mirrors and their link to the MirrorVerse has proven the planes of existence in this reality are wont to shift and grow as well. Sometimes these changes are temporary, other times they're permanent.
Starting October 10th and running through Halloween, every night at midnight, the mirrors that suddenly appeared in August begin to vibrate. If investigated, the view through the looking glass is very different from the usual darkness of the MirrorVerse.
While it seems to be a reflection of the room behind you, it's a room coated with years of neglect and decay, with dark crimson rivulets running down the walls, and there's a green glow barely seeping through the grime coating the windows. Touch the mirror and you'll be transported to this place, but we warned, for the mirror through which you stepped does not exist on the other side.
Where once hundreds of milling people would fill the streets of Aterat here, there are standing coffins, and a bright green moon hangs over all while the streets run with blood.

If you're to escape this dark fetid world, you'll have to find another mirror that works, and these are random. You may find them in a tarnished side street, or on the third floor of an abandoned building in the harbor district. You should begin looking, because there are creatures that call this twisted world home, creatures of darkness made manifest, creatures that are manifestations of human emotion that take many forms both monstrous and beautiful, ones that will feed on your minds and leave you hollow husks unless you can defeat them, or evade them.
There are safe places to be found where these Shadows can't find you, but they change from hour to hour. It's likely best to keep moving. The longer you stay in this place, the more fatigued you will become, making your reaction times sluggish and the idea of resting for just a moment all the more attractive. The Shadows are opportunistic hunters though, so resting is ill-advised.
Note:
This portal to this Dark place is only open one Hour at a time on the Aterat side, and each hour that passes on the Dark side is one full day in the main city's setting, so if you wander lost your absence can easily be noticed.

I'm going to be doing a log post that will be for her movie night with Mono with movies she's picked out especially for him and candy. However since it's happening during the event she won't be able to tell lies and will just answer everything ever honestly. If you want to have your character affected too then obviously feel free! Also if you have any movie suggestions let me know lol
Mitsuru
Mitsuru is going to the dark hour because well...obviously duh. But with a twist, I may combine both and have her not be able to lie while ALSO being in the Dark Hour. So if you want to see her Persona or fight with her we can do something with that. If I do anything with fully going in I may go all out with creature designs because I like Symbolism. Might use it as a way to force her to talk about some issues.
Ivy
I am not entirely sure about what I want to do with Ivy, I'd kind of like her to go into the whole dark hour thing and make a creature she finds that's super symbolic and stuff but also if she fights she tends to lose control. So if she encountered anyone over there she might bite them? She also tends to do a lot of investigation so she might look into the can't lie creatures.
Aerith and Haru are up for anything at all around. Aerith may go over and may need help. I'm down for more than one person helping her I don't care about timelines and so on. I'm so bad at plotting but now that I'm getting settled back after the worst like week+ ever I want to do things!

Mitsuru and Shinji; I think it would be amazing if they both ended up in the Dark Hour and unable to lie. The Dark Hour will be disorienting enough without being the worst place ever to talk about, you know, anything.
Ivy and Drizzt; I'm not going to have Drizzt go over, but he generally keeps to himself even if he's honest when he does speak with others. He'll probably still be effected, and while he did go off the first part of the month to see if he could find a trace of owls (for reasons), he'd be willing to help track creatures and get to the bottom of the happenings in the city, too, if you want help from him.
Alternately, Harry and Ivy team up might be a lot of fun (either in the Dark Hour or not).
Cloud and Aerith; They haven't really talked since Zack showed up, and that might be fun, whether it's in the midst of saving her from shadows or when neither of them can lie.
I'd also be down with something with Ren and Haru, but I also know there's only so much actiony fighty threads you can do before they all start running into each other, so I'm game for whatever
