Test Drive 006
WELCOME TO ATERAT

Here is our Fifth Test Drive Meme! There are a lot of areas of the city to explore, so please have a look around! In case you need a little help getting started, I've included a few prompts below, or feel free to start your own! Exploration and player initiative are the names of the game here!

Helpful Links to Get Started

Arrival & General Information | Setting & Bestiary | Locales & Businesses | Residences & Housing Info | Rules & FAQ (ask questions here!)

I. Crash Into Me
Not exactly, but close enough. You have just arrived and received a strange satchel from a tiny, strange little man and are left more or less to your own devices (more information on what to expect upon arrival can be found here)! Follow directions to the north and check out the housing, or maybe have a look around the Historium and try to get some information from that giant glowing ball, see what you can waste your meager starter coin on in the Market District, or maybe just meet the neighbors.
II. What Goes Bump in the Night
It looks like Aterat proper has a spirit problem. Maybe you're seeing specters, hearing disembodied voices, your windows rattle when there's no breeze outside. Maybe there are cold spots in your place of business (or your apartment, which is so much worse). Either way, you're 100% convinced you're haunted. Hopefully, someone else believes you, or maybe you're used to feeling crazy.
III. When the Carnival Came to Town?
Take a look at the prompts from our latest event and go to town (or the carnival).
IV. Try the Network
The Tell-Phone allows for text, video, and audio transmissions to everyone else who has one. Give it a whirl!
V. Wildcard
The above prompts are all options, and there's much more to the setting than what they provide. Do your best (or your worst)!

Even in Ivalice, Viera weren't really... the norm about Hume cities, so if anything... Fran was accustomed to anyone here that would have stared. She doesn't seem surprised or anything to find this blonde one looking up at her with a grin on her face. The grin made her think of Vaan - perhaps mischief.

"A cold presence with no magic is not normal to one as I," Fran responds with, glancing to the lingering cold spot, then to the other. "There are those that can cast themselves invisible in my world, but 'spirits' are only illusions manifested by the Occuria. They pull strings of history and fate, to do what they wish to have written." A hand goes to rest on her hip.

"These spirits... are such things normal to you?"

"Are you sure there's no magic?" Interesting if she was. Very interesting. Though most of what she was saying was oddly curious. "The Occuria sound fun. I bet they'd get along with the Elder Gods of my own world." There was a darkness in her tone that mixed with a fair dose of sarcasm. There was no denying her own disdain for beings of great power that manipulated others.

"Everything's normal once you've died and conquered a hell dimension." Normal was relative! "I have heard people talking about running into spirits here lately."

"Not magic I am familiar with, or that has been spoken or recorded of." Her heels clicked again as she closed some of the distance between herself and this supposed human. Red eyes look down to the blonde. "The Occuria manipulated Humes to the point that one of their leaders staged a full out war on the world that lead to many unnecessary deaths."

A head tilt at the mention of dying and conquering another dimension. "What is a dimension of hell? Are there spirits there?"

"What sort of magic is the kind you are familiar with?" Color her curious. Illyana looked up and met her eyes. "I like your eyes. I have a friend with yellow ones. Humans always mistook him for a demon. Humes to you?" Maybe. It sounded like they might be referencing the same type of being, though Illyana spoke as if she wasn't one herself. "Hopefully someone takes them out eventually. Nobody should be allowed to use those lesser than them as pawns."

She tilts her head and then gives a nonchalant shrug. "One of the dimensions that humans consider the place of demons. Some of them have the spirits of damned humans. Limbo doesn't. It's not quite their hell. Close enough for them to assume though." Humans loved to assume.

"Magic you can purchase in shops, use it when you have the strength. And aye, I suppose they are the same. Humes, humans. Ones that look the same as you." Fran gestures to the other as though to reference her species. "My species is the Viera, a group that lives secluded in their Wood."

She pauses to think of the world she hails from. To think if there was any such place like the hell she describes. "I've not heard of such a place. I suppose one could consider the Necrohol of Nabudis a place of hell. It was once the capital of Nabradia, before it was obliterated by the Archadian Empire. Now it is corrupted and infested."

"You can purchase your magic in shops? Oh, I know someone here who judge that," she said with a light chuckle. If Harry had questioned her on teaching people in an abandoned magic school, he'd definitely question just selling it in shops. That would be amusing to see. "My species is mutant. Some of us are human looking on the outside, but none of us are human inside." She was lucky being someone that could pass for human most of the time.

"Lucky you to not hear of a hell dimension." Some people got all the luck. "Necrohol of Nabudis sounds like it could be a contender for hell though. It's got the demonic sounding name."

"Purchasing and having the means to use it are separate I think. Humes will do much to make an extra bit of coin." Not that Fran had room to talk with her profession in Ivalice. It was easier to sleep on the Strahl when you had the coin to keep her up in the air and well stocked with provisions. "Ah, apologies for my assumptions."

She tilted her head at the remarks of being lucky. "I perhaps am lucky to not know of it, but I have seen and experienced other things that I suppose would be lucky for others to not know of. The mist is thick in the Necrohol, and creatures flock to it. They lurk and prey on those that would attempt to take the treasure lost for themselves."
