State of the Game & Spiritual Flux Event

The leaves around Aterat are beginning to turn, there's a crisp nip in the air, and the sun has set on a very angry plant that may have been intentionally unleashed on the Aterat populous. There's an investigative team looking into it, but things seem to have settled down for the most part!

The night sky this evening will be clear with a beautiful tapestry of stars laid out overhead, though around midnight, the sky will momentarily burst in vibrant, multi-colored light (think the Northern Lights), over the Noble District. Those who go to investigate will find a new business near the Grand Ballroom. Have a look at the Locations page to give a look to the newest addition: Moving Pictures!

Remember, if you guys think of a place that could be a fun addition to the city, you can submit it on the Content Submission page! It doesn't have to be a place for your character's homeworld. It could be something that came up in OOC conversation or whatever sparks inspiration!

And for a bit of OOC information, the following pages have been updated and/or added:

» New Test Drive is up, so invite your friends!
» The Timeline has been updated through the latest plot.
» All pages should be up to date (but if I've missed something, please let me know!)

Event; Spiritual Flux: Oct 24 - Nov 6

Starting around October 16, those going about their day to day lives will start to hear people chattering about a holiday, All Trickters Day. While those who have been in the city for some time may recall this was never mentioned last year, it seems the natives have always recognized it. There are lanterns to be purchased carved from seasonal gourds, peddlers trying to foist protection charms on passersby insisting one needs to protect themselves from the mischief on the way, and there are even different merchants selling cloaks, masks, and other costume items.

The townspeople explain the turn of the month marks the time when the barrier between our mundane world and the world of the spirits is thinnest, and that Trickster spirits will visit mischief upon anyone who does not have some sort of protection, be it a charm, a lantern, or a costume.

People are so flippant about it, even, that it seems like innocent if mischievous, fun for all around. That is until the wee hours of the morning on the 24th. A violent explosion of magical energy will erupt from the pinnacle of the Mage Tower north of the city just after Midnight. It spreads across the sky in all directions before raining shining motes of lights down upon the city. While anyone sensitive to magic will certainly feel it, it isn't painful. It's more like a wash of warmth that settles into everything and onto everything.

And that's when the strangeness begins. Every night for the next two weeks (Oct 24th - Nov 6th) strange things begin to happen throughout the city. Nothing is dangerous, but things go missing only to be found in a drawer that was never opened, windows that were shut are found open (or the opposite). Anyone who is sensitive to spirits, either their presence or the sensing of emotions, will feel a general feeling of glee when events occur, or when they're discovered.

Stranger still is what seems to be events isolated to the different residential buildings. While any of the spiritual activity can occur elsewhere in the city, certain things seem to be associated with one of the four buildings:

Red Building
For the duration of the event, residents of the Red Building will find their things rearranged. This can happen when they return for the evening, or even just move from one room to the next.

Green Building
Residents who live in Green will find objects missing. Now, this won't be anything that's going to cause them harm like required medications, but it will be mildly annoying. They will find the items later in places they would never be, such as the icebox or under the sofa.

Blue Building
Those who live in Building Blue will have a more interactive situation. Similar to events in the Red Building, things will be arranged, but here in Blue, they seem to be a form of communication. There may be messages scrawled on mirrors (for example, "we know when you sleep" or "sunset is our time", things arranged in patterns or anything in that respect. The messages are completely made up and meant to amuse and don't relate to anything real, but characters don't know that, so have fun with it!

Grey Building
In the Grey Building, residents will be subjected to non-poltergeist activity; for two weeks, they will enjoy strange sounds, disembodied voices whose words are unintelligible, knocking, footsteps when no one is around, and even phantom scents.

Any of the above can occur anywhere throughout the city for the duration of the event, but back 'home', only the events listed for a building will occur within its walls. Note: Being Trickster spirits, they don't bother everyone, so it's perfectly fine to out out of this event.

If you have any questions, please ask them below, and feel free to use this post to plot!

Happy Halloween!!
