let the bodies hit the floor
It was quite a lovely flower festival this past month. Everyone was happy, enjoying themselves, making the most of a bad situation. It's been fairly uneventful, really. Well, that all changes on Thursday, the 17th.
It doesn't begin with an explosion, at least not one that is seen everywhere. Early in the morning on Thursday, whatever it is characters are doing, a blinding light flashes, with no discernable source. It's almost as though it occurs in the mind, the flash is in their eyes, not perceived by them. With it is a lancing pain in the head, strong enough to bring them to their knees and block out all sound. They may cry out, but won't be aware enough to hear it, or others if there are others near.
Those with telepathic sensitivity, connections with souls, or spirits, along with the brief and unbelievably sharp pain, would have felt overwhelming happiness that turned quickly to rage and disappears along with the pain. It's too disconnected and brief to be traced to any specific location.
In the wake of the blinding flash and pain, investigations will reveal many strange occurrences:
- The barrier that once contained the cemetery has disappeared, and the sounds of moaning from beyond the walls and gate have gone with it. It's eerily quiet in that area of the city, actually, and the gate seems to no longer be barred. If the courageous choose to venture into the cemetery proper, they will find things a mess, but inactive. The cemetery itself is a broad expanse of closely packed crypts with winding paths throughout. Dotted throughout as well are small grassy areas with benches for the mourners, all as heavily overgrown and unkempt as the crypts and mausoleums themselves. Several of the crypts stand open, their stone slabs either moved aside or crumbled, but there are no signs of their previous occupants, still or animated.
- The The Undead that had been plaguing the Harbor District, the strange song, and the fog have all disappeared as well, though the Maiden's Mercy still remains in the harbor.
- The Directory in the Historium seems to have exploded. That's evident from the fragments of spherical crystal scattered around the remains of its pedestal, though there seems to be no trace of the strange mist that once swirled within its depths.
- A bonus: The weird intermittant issues with the Tell Phones seems to have righted itself!

Expect a post from Athony on the 21 to explain, as least to the best of his knowledge, what has happened.
NOTE: The NPC will respond to comments, so use this to your advantage!
Beginning on the 22nd, things begin to become dangerous for the arrivals from other worlds. When going about their daily lives, hopefully heeding Athony's warning, they may happen upon people from home! At least they appear to be people from home. They will look like them, sound like them, and even act like them, at least as you remember them! They may be glad to see your character and want to catch up, or, if an enemy, do their best to lure you off to get you alone. That is, ultimately, their goal, and how they go about that and where they take the people is completely up to the player.
It should be noted, though, that they are not who they appear to be. Once alone, they will drop the strong glamour they used to lure characters and reveal themselves for what they are:
The Hollow Men (and women)
The Hollow Men are angry spirits consumed by rage. They construct bodies for themselves from any refuse available and thus can appear as assemblages of anything, often refuse from gutters, fallen branches and leaves, or the scattered remains of dead creatures. They are the spirits of the dead, and thus are intelligent, but they are also consumed by an overpowering need to destroy the living. It may be possible for the powerful to subdue them or even to banish them if the knowledge is known to them, but the only other way to stop them is to destroy, thoroughly, the body they've constructed.
If you have any questions regarding the hollow men or related topics, please ASK!
After the 30th, Athony and Halcyn will have had enough time to do something about the problem (and hopefully replace the Directory)!

Re: Questions
When you say 'from home' do you mean the original world a character is from?
