TEST DRIVE 004
Here is our forth Test Drive Meme! There are a lot of areas of the city to explore, so please have a look around! In case you need a little help getting started, I've included a few prompts below, or feel free to start your own! Exploration and player initiative are the names of the game here!
Arrival & General Information | Locations & Bestiary | Residences & Housing Info | Businesses | Rules & FAQ (ask questions here!)
A. Crash into Me
Not exactly, but close enough. You have just arrived and received a strange satchel from a tiny, strange little man and are left more or less to your own devices (more information on what to expect upon arrival can be found here)! Follow directions to the north and check out the housing, or maybe have a look around the Historium and try to get some information from that giant glowing ball, see what you can waste your meager starter coin on in the Market District, or maybe just meet the neighbors.
B. A Winter's Ball
What brand new ballroom would be complete without a fancy new winter's ball to break it in? Things are a little strange at the ballroom (check the prompts) with mistletoe that traps you for a kiss with a random passerby, strange gray meringue that makes you willing to overshare, not to mention the fact that one of your strange possible overlords funded the whole thing. What's the worst that could happen?
C. We're all hanging out at the park, right?
The park near the Complex has become a glittering expanse of show! Childrenand adults alikebuild snowmen and even sled down some of the higher hills in the area. There are stands around the park selling hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and cider, as well as sweets and wrapped snacks for the day in the park. Speckling the park at regular intervals are standing fire pits designed to ward away the cold and allow for gatherings and conversation.
The pond in the park has frozen over as well, affording the abilities to ice skate as the ever-industrious Raimon is renting skates, and maybe even challenge people to a hockey game. How hard could it be to find some makeshift pucks and other accoutrements in order to play a game?
Tell Phone
The Tell Phones everyone are provided when they arrive are capable of voice transmission and texting as well and photo texts!

No, the tone in the other’s voice as he was caught up in their arms is so much less grumbly this time. So he laughed as well, a bright and full thing that was a rare enough sound to be surprising. “Mm... Well, seeings as I’ve already fallen for you— I suppose it might be one of those other two things.” He responded, an almost silly grin on his face as he wrapped his arms around the other’s neck.
no subject
“Seeing you in the true light of day leaves me breathless.”
no subject
He drew away though, grinning again. He felt ridiculous to be so hung up on the fact that they were here. In a different world, above the sea, together. At least Rhy seemed as elated over this turn of events. “The light of day— Rhy, how long as it been since we seen a real sun? Or Clouds, even?”
no subject
"The smell of water in the air, of the distant flow of it too. Imagine weather, Llewellyn. Imagine rain from the sky, and sunsets and fresh plants and... animals."
no subject
“I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t all some kind of dream...?” He murmured, finally turning his attention back to Rhy. Though on the subject of animals... “You haven’t... you haven’t seen Pretzel, have you?” He had to ask, if only because he had to check.
no subject
"Darlign, no. I thought I was here alone."
because he had been. The only sign of his connection with his partner had been the ring he had borne on his hand when he came here.
no subject
Clearing his throat a little, he looked around. “There’s so much we’ll have to do, to uh— figure out here... I suppose it might be more sensible focus on those things for now. Did you get one of those bags as well? From the uh— shorter fellow, I think he said his name was Raimon.”
no subject
"It seems the technology level here is... lower. And we are once again among a populous that is native. But they seem... so much more established."
These people felt like they belonged. But that was what they felt like lastime.
no subject
The subject of the people gets a low hum, “Yes, they do... I’m going to see if I can’t find out a little more about what we might not have been told. Just to be sure of a few things,” Not that he was going to go into full-blown paranoia mode. Regardless of the people, this was still far more ideal than where they’d been. And they were here together, which was another whole plus. “The ‘Aspects?’ They seemed about as vague as the Sphere was, as I recall.”
no subject
"They are most definitely not. Though I do miss carriages. It's nice to see them again."
He looked around, then took Llewellyn's hand to guide him toward what looked like a shop with food.
"Do you think they are like the Sphere?"
no subject
It isn’t hard to redirect his attention, fingers knitting with Rhy’s as the man drew him off towards a shop. They’d have to get more familiar with this place, learn its layout and what there was to choose from.
“It’s... not impossible that they are. At least I wouldn’t rule it out, given the reason we’ve been told for being here. Rebuilding a world... Not quite the same as reviving a dead people, but they still wish to bring something back without giving us much to go on or say in our arrival.” He responded with a frown, he wanted to know more before he made any judgement calls. “I’ll need a new notebook, and to start making some connections, I think.”
no subject
Exploration was something they could do together, with time. They might have time.
"We'll have to buy you one. And I'll help with your investigations of course. Charisma never hurts."
no subject
Rhy’s words, his offer, get a small smile from the detective. “Of the two of us, you are the more charming one. Between the two of us we might just stand a chance of getting enough figured out that we won’t be too surprised if something comes up.” And he wants to be ready, as beautiful as this place is, he doesn’t want to miss something crucial... Not after some of the things they’d seen at the Sphere.
But for now... He wanted to enjoy this. Being outside, under an open sky, looking around a market. “I wonder if there’s a pretzel stand somewhere around here.” Because of course he’d want to know that.
no subject
"There is much we will have to determine. Such as residence situation."
What if they were torn apart again?
no subject
Putting his own bag on the table in front of him, he dug through it quietly for a moment. “I believe... When I went through this earlier, there was a key? I presume that means that similar to the sphere, we’ll have some sort of designated space to live in.” That said... He wondered if those who brought them here had accounted for their preferences or if they were all given a place by default. “Do you have a key as well, dear?”
He eye’d the other’s bag curiously. If so... “We should see if we can find the buildings or rooms they go to.” Llewellyn certainly didn’t like the idea of living along again, “Depending on how large they are... We may have to consider doing what we did before the double dome opened up. To squeeze into one until we can find someone in charge of lodgings to request something more practical.”
no subject
"Yes, I definitely got a key. But if they have not provided something for us together, we will find a way, beloved. I wedded you and I'm not giving up on you, not now, not ever."
They were actually going to live rather comfortably, weren't they? How intriguing.
no subject
“We’ll check where the keys go to first, then.” He decided with a small nod, before tucking it back in the bag. “That way we can work out our next step. Surely if they expect us to simply live here and contribute, they’d have considered the possibility of couples that expect to live together. It would be a bit shortsighted on the part of these aspects to not think of it if they haven’t...” Something for after they eat, of course, he was rather eager to try some of the food here.
After ordering them something, he tapped the table lightly and propped himself up on his elbow with the other. “After that... We’ll have to see what sort of things to expect from this place. Work out what we’ll need— or need to do, I suppose.” It occurred to him that they’d be starting fresh here. No council work for Rhy, no private investigation office for him. It really was a new start...
no subject
"I don't know that they anticipated couples at all. The Sphere had not seemed to expect them to arrive. There were not many, but it did provide. I will have to hope they provide."
What they'll need. Well, from first glance...
"This place seems to have an economy," Rhy noted, given the arrival pouch had some coinage in it. "We'll need gainful employment. I suppose I can look for a tailor or seamstress and see if they will take me on, even with my level of skill. It could hold us steady enough for a while, leave you free to investigate. And places like that could draw gossip."
no subject
“We’ll work it out, I promise, Rhy.” He added with a comforting smile. This would be a matter he’d be stubborn on. After everything they’d been through, they deserved that much.
Employment was something he’d also been thinking about, and he offered a nod and leaned forward. “I’m sure that anyone would be lucky to have you, Rhy. There should be one or two around, I’d think... Everyone needs clothing.” He added with a grin. That did remind him that they’d probably need to find some themselves, having only arrived with the clothes on their back...
Humming a little, he refocused and moved on, “I’ve heard there’s a city guard... I’m going to ask around, maybe see if there are any investigation firms or a need for a consultant like I did in the last word. Failing that... I’ll see if I can’t find some sort of job— that way between the two of us we should be stable enough to keep ourselves fed and comfortable.”
no subject
Or perhaps that's only something of wishful thinking.
You did not see me throw this in the wrong tag tab I had open… nope… not at all…
He looked up from his plate and smiled a little, brow rising slightly as he spoke. “It’s almost like we’re uh— good at this. Only just arrived in a new world and already we’ve got a rough outline of some rather practical plans.” He still had some things to worry about, yes, but not nearly as much panic as when he’d arrived.
(ooc: Do you want me to migrate this to the main com’s in the comments where I put up a log post?)
