sotg: August + Event + New Game Feature
The weather continues to be oppressive with excessive humidity, the beach remains (along with the sand sharks), and things have been relatively peaceful.
But when does peace ever last? Not long in a place like Aterat, with its constant shifting and its two, lately absent, and inexperienced demigods trying to make things better for everyone and getting it wrong. Again. But first, a bit of OOC information:

It begins innocuously enough. On one innocent if hot night in early August, the night of the 10th to be exact, a wave of nausea seems to strike everyone in the city, or at least everyone who came from another world to this place. Your individual constitution will suggest whether or not you're able to save your dinner from waste, but there's no denying the disorientation.
A few hours pass with no explanation forthcoming, until a strange message, halting and jittery, video too dark to discern any details, plays across everyone's Tell Phone at once. It's a voice many haven't heard over the network in some time, Halcyn, and she utters one, strange entreaty: Find the mirrors; please help me, then the line goes dead.
The mirrors, it seems, are not difficult to find. In each living room of each apartment, the common room of the House of Solace, and every individual home in Aterat has appeared a floor length and stately mirror. Visible in this mirror, rather than a reflection of the room in which it stands, seems to be a view of a weathered and dimly lit street, not unlike those in Aterat, though mired in a gloom like none you have ever seen.
More striking, though, is the figure standing before you where your reflection should be, or perhaps it is your reflection. Do you really look like that? This MirrorSelf that stands before, possibly identical and possibly not, smiles at you, and reaches their hand out, pressing their hand against the glass, a look of earnest need in their eyes. A thought crosses your mind, in your mental voice, "place your hand on the looking glass". Those who do will be in Aterat no longer.
If you do choose to listen to that voice in your head that sounds so much like you, you will swap places with your MirrorSelf for the duration of the event, which will last two weeks, from August 12th to the 26th. That means you are free to play this MirrorSelf in the main game setting for the duration of the event!
The MirrorSelf can be as like the character of which it is a reflection as you like, or as different. It can have different motivations, personality traits, and even skillsets from its original, and it is a full person. Think of it as an AU of your current character (or the OU version, if your character is an AU). Note: these mirrors and the MirrorVerse itself will be a permenant facet of the game going forward, and as such, you are welcome to have a separate MirrorVerse journal for your character if you so choose. If you do, please respond to the THREAD below with the journal name, then request membership with it to aterat to allow you to post with it to the main comm. I'll respond letting you know the character's MirrorVerse tag as well as add the username to the Taken Page for your character.
Please read the information on the MirrorVerse here for details on how the MirrorVerse works and the general descriptions of the area. Once characters arrive, they will have two weeks to find Halcyn and bring her to a mirror on that side to return her to Aterat proper. She could be anywhere in that mirror city, and I'm going to leave it to RNG who finds her and is able to bring her home. The denizens of the MirrorVerse will try to stop you. They are emotional vampires and will attempt to feed on your character in various ways as they make their way. Halcyn, a being of power rather than flesh, is at her weakest in this place and won't be of much help and will be mostly unconscious for the journey.
If you'd like to have your character put in the RNG list for possibly finding Halcyn, respond here. NOTE: Characters are free to party up to look for her. You only need to leave one comment in the RNG request thread for finding her, just list the characters joining forces in the search in the comment. There may be a reward from Halcyn, Athony, or both of them for the successful rescue of the errant Aspect.
RNG SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED: The Winner of the RNG roll was Yusuke Kitagawa! His award will be one of the follow of his choosing:
- Random power augmentation, compliments of Halcyn
- Invulnerability to one otherwise lethal event
- A favor owed by the Aspects, to be cashed in a time of his choosing

I have created a MirrorVerse tag for Lyanna! It is mirrorverse: lyanna stark

Plotting for Whimsy's characters!
Yusuke is going to be switched out with his mirror self. The AU I’m going with for this one is something I admit I’ve had on my mind for a while. Because y’know, I’m a sucker for folklore and his entire thief aesthetic is a kitsune… So Kitsune Yusuke! He will have two forms, his human-like form, which will look very much like Yusuke but with yellow eye shine when the light catches them a certain way. His fox form will be a white fox with about 3 tails (he’s still young for a yokai!) with golden yellow eyes and distinct red markings that match his mask.
Both human-form and fox-form Yusuke will be accompanied by a ‘Hoshi no Tama’ or Star ball. This is incredibly precious to Kitsune, and is often thought to be their soul. To take one from them would be the best way to force a favour from them in order to get them back. Yusuke is still very much an artist, focused heavily on the stars. He lost his star ball once to Madarame already, who happened upon the young kitsune messing about with paints in the forest and snatched it up, wanting Yusuke to agree to paint exclusively for him for its return. Thus, the fox is somewhat trapped in a bad deal, not unlike the Yusuke of the real world. Only difference is he’s still in service to the man. So he’s a fair bit more tired, and being outside the mirror world will be thrilling and a freeing.
Abilities I'm thinking of pulling from kitsunelore would be shapeshifting (of course), the creation of illusions to trick people (because they're tricksters and he will mess with people who he thinks deserve a lesson) often accompanied by or formed by foxfire.
Llewellyn Watts-Maresh
Llewellyn will be his usual self for this event, mostly because I have too many AUs for him and I’m not sure which one I’d do for this right now unless someone asked for a specific one. So! He’ll be interacting with other people in Aterat and I’d be happy to see him run into some alternate versions of your characters! If you want to inflict your character on him, let me know and we can see about plotting a thing out. I figure a few normal people being around to interact with the mirror-characters is good anyway, right?
(For anyone wondering about Mono, he will be unavailable for new things until A. his current threads wrap up and B. I get his canon update submitted, and he gets back/sorted from that. Since it’s complicated because /gestures at his canon/ I will need to be able to keep things straight in my head. That said, since mirror stuff is going to be permanently a game mechanic, I will probably do an AU for him at a later date because that’s actually something I’d been wanting to do!! I even had a side account for it in case this ever became a thing.)

Though we'd talked a bit ago about wanting them to be able to show off their Persona to each other, so we could also do one of them as their normal selves in the mirrorverse fighting if you'd like?
I haven't fully decided, but I may have Illyana's or Ivy's AU self be around and that might be interesting to have interact with Watts. Ivy's might be very interesting in terms of him understanding why she really doesn't want to be undead.

OKAY So (I say as though this is a real time messaging thing), I got heads so Kitsune Yusuke meets Mitsuru who sounds like she needs friends and Yusuke and Haru in the mirror-verse! Which is great because, like you said, Yusuke hasn't seen her persona yet!!
(and that said, we can revisit the reverse after the fact since the mechanic is sticking around so that's exciting! Future potential!!!!)

That sounds great. Mitsuru will def need friends and will be interested in Yusuke. Especially with his yellow eyes (is he some sorta shadow????)

Shinjiro Aragaki
Shinjiro's core personality remains unchanged, he's still rough around the edges, but he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, and has proven to himself he can stand with the others. He is supportive of everyone, wants you all to do your best, and take care of yourselves. He plans on moving on to culinary school after high school.
