Jacob leaned forward and met Yuki's gaze. It felt like they were old friends but strangers at the same time. He didn't know how to approach Yuki and that made him uncomfortable.

After a moment of silence, his eyes lowered and his voice softened to a whisper. "I didn't say goodbye." It hurt to admit how much he had hated leaving before. Guilt, anger, and heartache had settled in his chest after he had first regained pieces of his forgotten time in the city but there had been nothing he could do. He was helpless when he'd been taken away and he couldn't control when it might happen again.

"I'm sorry Yuki." He kept his eyes pointed at the coffee table. He was sad but that wasn't why he couldn't meet Yuki's gaze now. It wasn't because he was sad but because he was furious. The gods here were playing with them and he was sick of being someone's plaything. He didn't want Yuki to see how angry he had become or how much he'd changed.
